This work depicts the war in Sudan, which began in April 2023 between two rival military factions: the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Both groups originate from the same state apparatus. They are former allies, now engaged in a power struggle over territorial control, political authority, and economic resources.
The two tanks facing each other represent these two factions. They are deliberately identical, to emphasize that this is a conflict between structures born from the same system.
Between them, civilians are forced to flee. They form a continuous line crossing the territory, caught between two military powers that do not protect them.
Their displacement reflects the reality of millions of Sudanese people forced to leave their homes since 2023.
The land takes the shape of Sudan itself. In the distance stands a barren tree. It represents famine — not as a natural disaster, but as a political consequence.
Hunger in Sudan is largely the result of conflict, blocked humanitarian access, and the instrumentalization of resources.
This war is the outcome of decades of militarization, foreign interference, and power concentration. It is a conflict sustained by geopolitical interests and global indifference.
The small golden tear is my signature. It marks grief, responsibility, and the refusal to normalize violence.
Material and FormThe surface is built from muted sand, beige and dusty brown tones. Layered matte textures create a dry, eroded appearance. Subtle gold is embedded within the material, never reflective. Forms emerge through soft tonal shifts rather than defined outlines. The overall finish remains matte, restrained, and mineral.
Thank you for supporting slow, intentional art.
Each work carries time, memory, and meaning.
