This painting is a reframing of what strength actually is, and where it actually lives.
For centuries, the characteristics that define the female body have been weaponized against it : Hormonal cycles read as instability, pain endured as weakness, the capacity to carry, sustain and deliver life reduced to vulnerability.
But a body that bleeds and does not die, a body that stretches beyond its own limits and rebuilds itself, a body that holds another life inside it and brings it into the world is not weakness.
It is the quintessence of power.
The most extreme form of physical and psychological endurance that exists.
The man in this painting holds no inherent power. His strength is external. It lives outside of him : in the weapon he carries, in the veil he uses to pin her down, in the language he invented to make her believe she needed him. He told her the veil was protection. He told her his weapon was aimed at the threat behind her. He told her she was too unstable, too emotional, too much to exist without him.
His most insidious move was not violence, not even the cage. It was convincing her she was small. Because the most powerful being in the world, who doesn’t know it, can do nothing with it.
This painting is an ode to feminine power.

Every care is taken to package each piece with plenty of bubble wrap in sturdy boxes, in the unlikely event that a piece arrives damaged, this must be reported within 5 days of delivery, with photos of both the packaging and the artwork.
